Do not delete - I have something very important to say

Greetings Eastenders,
I'm going tomorrow to the Victory Grill to do some filming. They have a blues and jazz band playing from 8 pm onwards. I already got some footage today but filming the performance might be helpful. There will be some good ol' southern cuisine and of course some really good music. So if anyone is interested in tagging along with me, it would be great. If you would like me to return the favor by accompanying you to your restaurant, I'd be happy to. So let me know if anyone's interested.

New direction

So here are the restaurant assignments for our revised, re-focused, fantastic new project. Go team.

Ashwini:Victory Grill and Blue Dahlia
Kelly: Ms B's and something on Manor
Gloria: Brizilian place and East Side Pies
William: Casa Columbia and Dan's on Airport
Kathryn: Star Seeds and Nubian Queen
Tina: Juan in a Million and Angie's

African American Quality of Life

So I went to a meeting last night for the African American Resource Advisory Commission (for another class) but I talked to the president of the Austin chapter of the NAACP while I was there and got his perspective on the issues facing the east side right now. Just thought I would share.

He sees education as a major issue (citing Johnston being shut down and Pierce possible following), and he also mentioned infrastructure (like not installing sidewalks around new developments which limits people's access). He thinks improvements have been made in arts and culture, but that more could be done to bring black performers/artists to Austin to keep people from going to Dallas and Houston for their entertainment. Check out this report (scroll down to bottom of page and download the PDF of African American Quality of Life Scorecard- http://www.ci.austin.tx.us/aaql/) It has a lot of useful information.
